
About the Role
Camp Instructor that will supervise a group of children while teaching lesson plans, facilitating planned activities, oversee the use of the facility by opening and closing the facility for camps and lead zoo tours in an age-appropriate manner that is fun and engaging.
Enforce rules and regulations.
Plan and conduct structural recreational activities.
Participate in special events and programs with other departments/divisions.
Coordinate and participate in program planning sessions with other site staff to develop activities and lessons.
Provide leadership to campers, manage group behavior, and demonstrate a passion for nature and children.
Instruct children about wildlife conservation using set curriculum both in classroom and on zoo grounds.
Properly handle animal artifacts in our education department.
Set up and clean up of camp classroom.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in recreation.
Must be flexible and willing to work weekends.
Teaching experience preferred
Passionate about wildlife
Must be comfortable handling small animals (reptiles, birds, small mammals, and insects) and have some knowledge of animal/natural science.
Must be dependable, positive and enthusiastic.
Must be a team player with great communication and presentation skills.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and be able to stand/walk for extended periods.
